The Rotary Club of Alpharetta is sponsoring the new Interact Club of King’s Ridge Christian School. The Interact Club’s charter was awarded on January 20, 2017 to Cambri Driskell, 14-years-old, who is heading the organization.
Interact Clubs are developed to bring youth between 12-years-old and 18-years-old together and develop leadership skills and understand Rotary’s goal of, “Service Above Self”. There are currently 20,372 Interact Clubs across 159 countries, and each club organizes at least two projects each year.
Cambri is a freshman in high school at King’s Ridge and has attended the school for 10 years. Cambri said she wanted to start the club because, “I have grown up in the Rotary world as my dad and my grandpa have been avid members of the Alpharetta Rotary Club. I've always loved going to the club meetings on Fridays with my dad. The service that is carried out by the club is something that I admire very much; because of this, I wanted to extend the opportunity of service to my high school, which led me to establish the first ever King's Ridge Interact Club.”
King’s Ridge is very supportive of the new club, and Cambri looks forward to developing the club's potential moving forward. The Interact Club is now in the process of recruiting and hopes to have members together and officers elected by mid-March. The club will officially start at the beginning of the next school year, starting in August 2017. The club will be partnering with King’s Ridge’s Christian life department, as well as their international mission trips, and their Called to Serve class to serve and carry out projects every year.
Rotary District 6900 Governor Raymond Ray said, “Our youth are our future and Rotary International Interact clubs are our brightest future. We welcome Kings Ridge Christian School Interact Club and its membership to District 6900 and Rotary International.”
