Michael Malkowski, a rising senior at Milton High School, was named STR8UP SPORTS male Student-Athlete at the end of the 2017 academic school year, and was presented with this award at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on May 31st 2017. Michael received this award for his outstanding academic, athletic and civic accomplishments. Just this past 2017 Track & Field season at Milton High School he was DOUBLE Fulton County Champion in the 800 meters & 1600 meters. He followed that by taking podium finishes in both the 800 meters & the 1600 meters (finishing as State Runner-Up in the 1600 with a time of 4:15.60). Michael was also 6th place in the 7A State cross country championships in Fall of 2016. Michael is a very strong student in the classroom and his love for running and racing makes him want to compete at the next level in college. Milton High School’s Head Coach of Cross Country/Track & Field, Andy Carr shared that “Michael is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached. He is a student of the sport, knows and follows his competition and is one athlete who is ready for any situation that comes his way. Michael is always ready to step-up to a challenge and looks forward to big races where he can improve his times but also become a better runner and racer. Michael is great to be around and also takes interest in your race just as much as his”.
