Hosts Holiday Home Tour
Roswell, GA Nov. 13, 2017 --- Tickets sold out quickly for the November 4th inaugural Holiday Home Tour presented by the Roswell Woman’s Club. Five beautiful homes in the heart of Historic Roswell were showcased and adorned with holiday décor by local floral and home interior designers, according to Marty Johnson, third vice president and fundraising chairperson.
Roswell Woman’s Club sought feedback from the local community before planning this one-day inaugural home tour. “We consistently found that people enjoy seeing how other people live. We kept hearing that folks wanted to view decorated homes that were actually lived in,” said Johnson. Johnson said she was overwhelmed by the generosity of the homeowners, the designers and the abundance of local sponsors. “We exceeded even our own expectations this year, and we hope to build on this concept in future years,” said Johnson.
The homes selected for this year’s tour included a renovated 100-year-old cottage just off Canton Street, a home in the new Forrest Commons development just beyond City Hall, and three homes on Goulding Place, including the newly restored 158-year-old Goulding House. “One of the unique features of this tour was the pairing of homes with historical charm with homes that reflect more current trends,” said Johnson. Talented local designers were hand selected to literally transform the homes into spectacular holiday wonderlands for the one-day tour.
Proceeds from the tour will benefit local nonprofits and provide scholarships & educational grants to North Fulton students, teachers, and administrators. Since 1977, the Roswell Woman’s Club has disbursed over $2,100,000 to the local community, with an annual disbursement ceremony typically held in May.
The Roswell Woman’s Club is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit, 501(c) 3 service organization whose common interest is to support Roswell in the areas of educational scholarships and grants, human services, cultural arts, historical preservation and urban improvement.
